About the Artwork

Amitabha means infinite light and is also known as Amitayus, the Buddha of infinite life. Long ago, he was a king who gave up his throne to follow the spiritual path. As Dharmakara Bodhisattva, he accumulated immense merit over countless lifetimes and ultimately attained enlightenment.

He now presides over Sukhavati, the Western Pure Land, a realm of peace and bliss where beings can be reborn to progress toward full enlightenment. Amitabha is honored for his promise to guide all who call upon him with sincere faith.
